For over 80 years, the FDES Monterey Portuguese Hall has stood as a cornerstone of our community, preserving the faith, heritage, and traditions that connect us to our Portuguese roots and to each other. That legacy continues only when new generations step forward to stay involved and help carry it on.

Get Involved with FDES

FDES is sustained by volunteers who give their time, energy, and talents to help with events, fundraising, maintenance, community activities, and Portuguese traditions. For many families, it was parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who came from Portugal and helped build this community.

As older generations step back, it becomes even more important for younger members of the community to get involved, honor that legacy, and help keep it strong for the future.

Your Contributions Matter

The FDES Portuguese Hall of Monterey is a nonprofit organization sustained by membership dues, event proceeds, rental income, and generous community donations. Your contribution helps us:

  • Maintain and improve our historic 11-acre property on Casanova Avenue

  • Fund annual scholarships for deserving students of Portuguese descent

  • Preserve and celebrate the traditions of the Festa do Divino Espírito Santo

  • Support Portuguese community events for families, members, and friends
